Pretoria (SA) – The Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) at the University of Northampton is to assist investigating the feasibility of recreating a Leather Research Institute, to be based at the University of Pretoria, to replace the defunct Leather Industries Research Institute at Rhodes University in Grahamstown.
Former LIRI and ISTT staff member Karl Flowers, now a senior lecturer at the ICLT, is to hold a workshop on the subject at the Society of Leather Technologists & Chemists Convention next weekend.
The study is being funded by the DTI and the IDC via the Exotic Leather Cluster.
